Obituary for Lucila Dolorosa

Lucila Dolorosa
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucila “Lucy” Bayan Dolorosa on July 13th at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 66.

Lucila was born on October 30th, 1950 in Polomolok, South Cotabato, Philippines to Manuel and Gaspara Dolorosa. Lucy was the fifth of nine children and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1975 in the Philippines.

In November of 1980, Lucy gave birth to her first and only daughter Sheila. In the early 1980’s Lucy wanted to create a better life for her daughter and family and decided to move to Hong Kong to work as a domestic helper. She lived there for a few years until then she made the decision to fly to Canada and become a nanny in 1986. In 1990 Lucy had her second child and only son Jim. Later she worked for the Duha Group Company for about 10 years.

Lucy then graduated from Red River College with a Dietary Aide Certificate and worked at Deer Lodge. Years passed and at 60 years of age Lucy proceeded with her retirement.

Lucy always had a love for shopping, socializing, helping family & friends in need and of course the color pink. She was a very generous person, most especially went it came to her family. She was survived by two of her siblings who currently live in the Philippines.

Lamay/Viewing will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Mosaic Event Centre, 1006 Nairn Ave., commencing at 6:00 pm. Prayers will be held at 8:00 PM, Father Jorge Mante Officiating.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Edward’s Roman Catholic Church, 836 Arlington St. Keewatin St, Rev. Father Jorge Mante Celebrant.
