Gordon Z. Kraushar
1935 - 2017
Peacefully with his family by his side, Gordon passed away at the age of 81 years on January 4, 2017 in Palliative Care, St. Boniface Hospital.
Gordon worked in the financial community for most of his life, enjoying sales, excelling in Management, and later his own businesses. From 1960 – 1967 Gordon was involved in Jaycees in Alberta, and awarded a Senatorship, the highest award in Jaycees, and he continued to serve as a Jaycee Senator of Mid-Canada throughout his life. Gordon was also active in Kiwanis in Alberta & Manitoba from 1968 through 1976, and provided tremendous drive, enthusiasm and leadership to his Clubs.
Gordon & Arleen enjoyed many activities, particularly camping and canoeing with the family at Rushing River. They also loved golfing, skiing in the mountains, hiking in the desert, walking & collecting sea shells on exotic beaches. Both were passionate about making jewelry, crafts and Xmas gifts for family and friends. Over their 45 years of marriage, Gordon and Arleen loved to travel and especially enjoyed their long winter get aways. Gordon was the Host at home of many Canada Day “Olympic Games” and Shuffleboard tournaments held for family and friends. Gordon will be remembered for his good advice and a sense of humor that made everyone smile. He was fun loving, and had a twinkle in his eye, especially for his sweetheart, Arleen.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife and Best friend, Arleen, sons Gordon (Darlene), Kevin (Pat), Gary (Jen), and daughter Terri (Rick), Mother-in-law, Elsie, Sister Rosemarie (Bill), Sister-in-Laws, Barbara, Diane (Bruce), and Shirley, Uncle Steve, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews (spouses) grandchildren, great grandchildren, special great nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Karl, Richard & Ernie, sisters Dillie and Hilda, brother-in-law Jim, and loyal companion, Perro.
As per Gordon’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation are gratefully accepted. Thanks to all for your kind condolences.
Family and Friends will be invited to a Celebration of Gordon’s Life in the Spring of 2017.
