Gerardo Russo
August 28, 1943 – July 6, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerardo Russo on July 6, 2018 at the age of 74 years. Gerardo leaves to mourn his wife of 49 years Antonietta, his children Joe Russo (Linda) and Maria DiVincenzo (Marco). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Noah Russo, Lia and Cara DiVincenzo. He is survived by his brother Frank Russo (Donna), sisters Maria D’Achille (Franco) and Rosa Rakic (George), sister in law Marianna Perillo of Italy, nieces and nephew from Winnipeg and Italy and many relatives and friends. Gerardo was predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Vincenza, his parents-in-law Nicola and Felicia Troiano of Italy and his brother in law Vito Perillo of Italy.
Gerardo was born on August 28, 1943 in Muro Lucano, Potenza, Italy and immigrated to Canada in December 1960. Upon arriving to Winnipeg he worked with Manitoba Cabinet as a wood worker building furniture cabinets and frames. He stayed with the company for 24 years. He later joined the housekeeping department at the Grace General Hospital and remained there until his retirement in 2005. Dad was a traditional man with a heart of gold. He valued his family and friendships. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive condolences at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding.
