Obituary for Maria Masi

Maria Masi
November 26, 1934 – June 2, 2018

Peacefully on June 2, 2018 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Maria Masi passed away at the age of 83 years. Maria was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Giuseppe (Joe) Masi, parents Saverio and Caterina, brothers Fillippe, Francesco and Saverio.

She will be greatly missed by her son Tom (Maria), daughter Rose (Phil), grandchildren Joseph (Nunziata), Tomas (Jenelle), Robert (Katelyn), Maria (Nicholas), Dominic (Brittney) and great-grandchildren Logan, Sofia, Matteo, Catherine, Maddalena, Lydia and Carter. She also leaves behind her brother Vittorio (Emilia) and sister Giuseppina (Giuseppe) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria was born on November 26, 1934 in Amato, Italy. At the age of 19 her entire family left their country to seek a better life in Argentina in 1953. Maria married Joe in 1957 and with her husband and son (Tom) they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1960 to begin a new life in Canada.

In 1963 they had their second child (daughter), Rose. Mom worked at Sunshine Uniforms and Old Dutch, but spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother. Mom was a kind, caring soul who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and most recently, her seven great-grandchildren. In the past, mom had enjoyed travelling to Puerto Vallarta with Dad each winter and
welcomed the opportunity to speak Spanish with her friends and anyone she would meet.

The family will receive condolences at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding.

Entombment will follow the mass in Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum 1501 Waverley St.

A sincere thanks to the staff of the Emergency, Internal and Family Medicine departments of the St. Boniface General Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association by visiting www.mb.lung.ca
