Obituary for Susan Lois Hickingbottom

Susan Lois Hickingbottom

September 19,1950 - May 9, 2018

On May 9, peacefully, with her loving family at her side, Susan slipped from this life to be with her Lord.

She is predeceased by her husband Rod, father Arthur Wallace, and mother Lois.

She leaves to mourn, her brother Jim (Marilyn) and sister Dawn White, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Also mourning her loss, her sisters in-law, Linda Smithson and Janice Hickingbottom and dear friend Liz Gilmore. Their love and devotion to Susan was extraordinary.
She will be missed by friends far and near.

Susan was born, raised and educated in Kenora. She enjoyed, writing, gardening, singing and playing the piano.
Early in the 70’s, Susan moved to southern Ontario, where she worked for General Electric, CIBC for twenty five years, and LOG. She met the love of her life – Rod- and they were married on September 10, 1977.
They resided on Dorothy Street for most of their married lives.

Susan loved animals - especially horses and dogs. She enjoyed restoring cars with Rod, going to fairs and car shows, gardening and visiting her family and friends.

We would like to thank the amazing staff at Birchwood Terrace in Kenora. Their care, concern, and respect that Susan received was much appreciated.

In accordance with Susan’s wishes, she will be laid to rest with her husband Rod, at the Lake of The Woods Cemetery in Kenora.

If friends so desire, donations can be made in her memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Grand River Conservation Foundation, who will plant a tree in her memory.

A Celebration of life will take place at Hampton Inn Suites, 20 Fen Ridge Court Brantford, Ontario, Pace Room, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 6:30 PM.
