Obituary for Victor John Cameron

Victor John Cameron
Victor John Cameron
August 14, 1945 – January 15, 2018

Victor Cameron, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre.

Victor is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rafaelita Almonte Cameron. Left to cherish his memory are his children Cherielyn (Zakariae) and Jonathan (Cheryl) and grandchildren Saffiya and Layla. His memory will be forever cherished by his brothers and sisters, Stewart (Kathy), Faye, and Amy (Glenn). Vic is predeceased by his parents (John and Edith), his brother Donald (Vicky), and sisters Shirley and Fern (Peter).

Victor Cameron was born on August 14, 1945 and grew up in Roblin, Shilo, Rivers, and Douglas, Manitoba. Vic was an active child who enjoyed swimming, playing soccer, golfing and tobogganing. He went trapping as a kid, selling his catch to fur dealers and routinely went to the movies every Friday (his favourites included Westerns like "Thunder in the Sun"). As a young man, Vic moved to Winnipeg. He loved to dance, particularly square dancing, in his zoot pants and suede shoes. He met and fell in love with Rafaelita and they married June 28, 1975. A year later they grew their family and had a daughter followed by their son. Vic was family- oriented and lived a Christ-centred life. He had an impressive collection of bibles, which he was often reading, and pens! He loved his pens and notebooks! Vic had a big heart - he was a devoted father and a doting grandfather to Layla and Saffiya but his love extended to all the kids that grew up around him. They loved him and called him "Lolo Vic". His vivid childhood stories and infectious smile will be missed.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Winnipeg, MB. by Pastor Rick Hill celebrant.
