Obituary for Hedwig Wagner (Skorjanc)

Hedwig Wagner (Skorjanc)
Hedy (Hedwig) Wagner
After a brief battle with cancer on October 8, 2017, Hedy passed away at the age of 81. Hedy was predeceased by her love John in 1995. She leaves to cherish her memory son Ted; daughter Sandra; grandchildren, Stephanie, Lindsay, Alanda (Dean), Taylor and Brynn as well as her great grandchildren, Raia, Drayden, Mya, Isabella, Kyrah, TJ and Kingston. She is predeceased by her sisters Maria (Milan), Angela, and brothers Alexander from Canada and Willy (Erica) in Slovenia. As well as numerous nieces and nephews as she joins her 4 brothers Martin, Bruno, Roman and Zvonko.
Hedy was born on September 25, 1936 in Slovenia. She came to Canada in February 1957 and decided to live in Winnipeg, where she met and married her true love John in May 1958.
Hedy took pleasure in raising her children and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and John loved to travel to Hawaii and spend time at their home away from home on Pickerel Lake.
Hedy was a person who enjoyed outdoor life such as fishing, picking blueberries, mushrooms and most of all working in her breathtaking gardens. Hedy was very knowledgeable and enjoyed helping her neighbors in whichever way she could. She also enjoyed her time with friends who came to visit as she always had a pot of coffee ready; if you were lucky she would even plate up her well known apple strudel.
In Hedy’s last days she expressed to Sandra how fortunate she was to have fulfilled her dreams and done what she had always dreamt of doing. She accepted that it was her time to go home to God and be with her true love again. She was very thankful for all her memories with her family and friends which she will take with her to share in Heaven.
She will be sadly missed by all.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all the nursing staff at Concordia Hospital, 3rd floor West, for the care they provided.
As per Hedy’s request there will be a private service for the family. Donations can be made in Hedy’s name to Cancer Care Manitoba. As per Hedy’s request there will be a private service for the family.
