Victor Alarkon
Victor Arcilla Alarkon, 68 years old, originally from Caramoan, Camarines Sur, Philippines passed peacefully on August 1, 2017 at Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 17, 1948, in San Jose, Camarines Sur, Philippines, the son of Juana Arcilla and Felizardo Alarkon. He was the seventh of eight siblings.
He graduated from the University of Nueva Caceres (Naga City, Philippines) with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1974 and taught at a public high school in Caramoan. He then pursued further education with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a major in Accounting (University of Nueva Caceres). He took on a Researcher role with the Bicol River Basin Development Program and later pursued several entrepreneurial ventures. He immigrated to Canada in 1994 with his wife and daughter and worked at Canada Safeway and Gourmet Baker where he retired at the age of 60. He loved to travel to the Philippines to be with his family in Caramoan and to work on home renovation projects at his Philippine residence in Oas, Albay. He loved his wife and only daughter immensely and always enjoyed spending quality time with them. He was a wise advisor to many, a man of authority, a disciplinarian and a natural born leader. He is survived by his wife, Lourdes Rayala Alarkon, and his only daughter, Lourdes, who remain committed to continue his legacy and personal projects. He is survived by his siblings, Fely Alarkon Lao, Honorio and Eduardo; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 10th at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg, MB at 1:00 pm, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2:00pm.
