Pasquale (Pat) Potenza
October 5, 1946 – July 28, 2017

Peacefully surrounded with the love and affection of his cherished family, Pasquale Potenza passed away on July 28, 2017, age 70 years. He leaves behind his loving wife Dina of 49 years, his children Dan (Ina), Vince (Cara) and three grandchildren, Daniel, Larissa and Marco Potenza. He is survived by his sisters Elisa (Late - Tony) Signore, Sister Ermelinda of Italy, Teresa (Benito) Carnevale and his sister-in-law Teresa Potenza.
Pasquale is reunited in heaven with his father Donato and mother Carmela along with sister Maria (Late - Donato) Fusco and his brother Angelo.
He has numerous nieces and nephews that will cherish his memory as well.
Pat was born in Ripacandida, Potenza Italy on October 5, 1946 in a large extended family.
As a young boy, he immigrated with the rest of his family to Canada to start a new life. He has called Winnipeg home ever since. After a few years he met the love of his life Dina and were married on October 14, 1967. By then, he was well underway in his career in men’s hairstyling. But that was only the beginning - of a long and successful life of entrepreneurship.
Pat was always thinking big, and was a founding partner in The AURA Hair Group. For over 40 years in the hairstyling industry, Pat has made countless connections with people, clients and employees alike – all saying he made them feel like family. Pat was definitely a people person, and it was his genuine care for people that also got him, and other like minded people to start Mosaic Funeral Services in December 2006.
With the challenges and success in business, Pat constantly felt the need to give back and was a tireless member and volunteer in the Italian community. Pat was one of the original members of the Son’s of Italy – Garbaldi Lodge. He was so proud when he and his Aura Partners received the Canadian Italian Business Professionals Association Award. Pat was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as President of the Board at Villa Nova Senior Residence, and so much more.
With a busy work life – Pat never forgot to truly make a life for himself and his family. He was so many things to so many people – but he was the best husband, father and Nonno anyone could ever ask for. His family was everything to him. He was so proud of his boys and their accomplishments, and adored his grandchildren. He did everything with them. He taught them how to play golf, tennis and fishing. He never missed their soccer or hockey games, dance recitals and school plays. He was active in every aspect of their lives. He loved spending his summers with his entire family at our cottages in Grand Beach. One of our favourite memories were the annual Grand Beach Bocce Tournaments he helped organize. He shared his love of food (especially Dina’s cooking), gardening and especially wine making, with everyone. His genuine love of life brought happiness and laughter to every gathering. His love of golf, especially with his boys, will never be forgotten.
Along with his loving wife Dina, Pat loved to travel. His zest for life took him all over the world. He especially loved his time at his second home in Clearwater, Florida. He loved spending time there with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by the numerous friends he has made there over the years.
Pat, as a loving husband, father and grandfather, you were taken from us too soon. There was so much more life for you to share with us. The void that is now in all our lives and our hearts will be impossible to fill. Our lives will never be the same. We will forever miss your guidance, support and generosity. Rest assured that the legacy you have left us will continue in your sons and grandchildren. We will forever miss you and love you.
We would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital, specifically the care given to Pat by the ICU unit.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, Rev. Father Sam Argenziano celebrant. Viewing/Condolences will begin at 10:00 AM.
