Finlay Robert Alexander Robinson
February 9, 1928 – April 22, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Finlay Robert Alexander Robinson. On April 22, 2017, at the age of 89, he peacefully passed away surrounded by his family.

He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 61 years Jackie (Jobin), his sister Elaine, his children Michael (Christine), Jim (Carol), Joanne (Bob), Doug (Debbie), Ken(Pat), David (Enid), his grandchildren Sandra, Heidi (Conrad), Laura, Graham, Sean, Nicole, Ashley, Ginny (Brennan), Matthew, Brett, Carissa, Adam (Brenda), Anna, Steven, and his great grandchildren Liam, Caleb, Tyler, Alyssa, and Leyna, as well as his extended family and many friends.

Finlay was born on February 9, 1928 in The Pas, Manitoba to John and Hilda Robinson.
In 1939, at age 11, he moved with his family to Winnipeg where he would later meet his wife Jackie in 1953 when she invited him to lunch on a dare. This lunch would turn out to be the beginning of a lifetime of love. They were married in 1955 and raised 6 children in their home in Transcona. From there Fin’s life was always busy, filled with work, coaching hockey and camping trips with the kids at the oasis.

With the children all grown in 1987, Fin and Jackie moved out to “the cabin” near Beausejour, where he would a year later retire from his job at Drummond McCall and enjoy country life tending to his bees and garden. This retired life then took them into their next home in Oakbank in 1991, where Fin enjoyed puttering in his garden, and woodworking in his garage. This was also the time for Fin and Jackie to see the world where Fin enjoyed his many trips abroad to destinations including Hawaii, the Bahamas, Texas, Australia, and New Zealand.

Fin and Jackie moved back to their Transcona roots in 2014 where he would enjoy his last few years relaxing and spending many hours in his recliner chair reading his beloved books.

Family was the most important thing to Finlay. He was so proud of all his children and their many accomplishments. He always looked forward to the annual family fishing trip with his sons, son in law, close family friends, and later grandsons. Whether it be a family gathering or one of his children or grandchildren stopping by for a cup of coffee he always looked forward to that time with family.

Fin has been an inspiration to many and his memory will forever live on.

A funeral service will be held at St. Joseph the Worker, 505 Brewster St., Winnipeg. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 1:00 P.M.
