Mario L. Guiao
January 19, 1978 – January 17, 2017
It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Mario Lumague Guiao on January 17, 2017. Mario was born January 19, 1978 in San Juan Nepomuceno Betis, Guagua Pampanga, Philippines.
Mario grew up in Betis, Guagua, Philippines as the youngest of three children. To those who knew him, his generous, loving nature gave concrete evidence as to how big a heart he had. If there was a friend in need, he was there to fill that need. And he demonstrated that strength of his character in the way that he opened his home as a welcoming and safe haven to others. He continued that very same kindness up until his last breath.
He had immigrated to Canada on October 22, 2000, and it was in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he had met, fell in love, and married his wife Melani. Together they built a home full of love and laughs along with their two children, Michael (13) and Makenna (7).
As a beloved husband and devoted father, he gave his all to his family, both locally and overseas. His strong work ethic and generosity earned the respect of family and friends alike, as he genuinely thrust his heart and soul into his career at Magellan Aerospace.
Mario also maintained a fun and adventurous personality that his children remember fondly. Whether it was swinging his daughter around in a blanket or doing donuts in a parking lot with his son, he created lasting memories with his children. He loved anything to do with planes and had a good knack for knowing which airplane model was currently flying overhead.
He is survived by his loving wife Melani (neé Onio); his children Michael and Makenna; parents, Angel and Lydia Guiao; brother, Isagani (Remedios) Guio, and their children Micah and Mico; sister, Nancy (Bernie) Ocampo and their children Clarisse, Camille, Carla; mother-in-law, Benivenida (John) Stevens, father-in-law, Alfredo (Marissa) Onio, brother-in-laws, Albien and Alfredo Onio, Jr., three foster children: Samantha, Rebekah, and Caleb, and numerous family and friends in the Philippines, USA, Canada, and Europe. Mario, you will be missed, but we take comfort knowing you are in the faithful arms of your Heavenly Father. Paalam Mario, sa muling pagkikita.
