Obituary for Federico Talingdan Jr.

Federico Talingdan Jr.
Federico Talingdan Jr. was born on August 13, 1957 in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He is predeceased by his parents Federico Talingdan Sr. and Demetria Ramirez. They had ten children. Erlinda Peralta, Luzviminda Fernandez, Esperdion, Reynaldo, Saturnino, Federico, Alicia, Nestor, Cynthia and the youngest Noel.
Rico attended Narvacan North Elementary School and Ilocos Central Academy both in Narvacan. He entered The Philippine National Police (PNP) Academy in 1982 in Baguio, Philippines. Rico was a policeman and a fireman in the Philippines for many years until 1993.
Rico was blessed with five children. Danica Angela, Jaylord, Ma Cristina, Rick Marion and Jonalyn. He was also blessed with two grandchildren. John Constantine Regala, who is Danica’s son and Alessandra who is Jaylord and Rhina’s daughter. He was fortunate enough to meet both grandchildren when he travelled to the Philippines in 2014 and 2015.
Throughout the years, Rico continued to play sports. He played basketball and tennis and table tennis. He enjoyed singing karaoke, playing the organ and spending time with friends playing Mah Jong and Tong It. Rico also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was an excellent cook known for some Ilocano specialties such as pinapaitan, warek warek, and kilawen and his pancit was one of the best pancits one would ever taste.
Rico immigrated to Canada in 1993 and worked for MWG, Ryan Forest Products and Maple Leaf Foods. He met new friends and made lasting memories but also faced many medical challenges. Rico was diagnosed with diabetes and had to manage his condition for many years. He underwent dialysis for four years going to Seven Oaks Hospital three times a week for four hours a day. Since then he suffered complications associated with the diabetes. He experienced pain and suffering over the years but persevered and faced the challenges head on.
Rico leaves behind many family members and friends that will miss him. The family would like to thank Letty Arabe, Louie Arabe and Marlet Ramiscal, paramedics, emergency doctors and MICU for their efforts to help Rico during his last few days. Thank you to the Dialysis Unit at Seven Oaks Hospital for the years of care.
