Condolence From: Bill Stearns
Condolence: Hi Susan
So sorry to hear about Rich's passing. Since I moved away I've been too out of touch and did not know Rich was ill.I don't know why but when ever I think of Kelvin C.C. I always picture Rich on the lacrosse rink (actually in the penalty box).He was a character, a fun guy to be around. A lot like his dad. I was hoping I would see him at the last lacrosse get- together this past November but I guess he was too ill. I use to bump into him from time to time when ever I made it back to Winnipeg. We always had a good laugh. I didn't see him much but I will miss him. Take care.
Bill

Condolence: So very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I was introduced to Rick through our mutual friend Greg Auld in the 80's and as it turned out Rick became my son David's hockey coach. Dave was late in entering organized hockey but he wanted to tryout even though he was far behind the other kids skills. Rick seemed to embrace the challenge to give this kid a chance and make him into a hockey player. Fortunately with Rick's mentoring and coaching Dave did in time become a pretty skilled hockey player and to this day he still credits Rick for allowing him the opportunity to compete and become the player he became. As Dave says, "Rick found a way to make us believe in ourselves and gave us the confidence to take that out on the ice". Our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time. RIP "Wash"

Condolence: The world lost a giant of a man on Friday. Wash epitomized a number of things but none more than Family Man. Rick loved his wife and his family more than any other man that I have ever met. You know a man left his footprint on the earth when you ask anyone who grew up in Elmwood if they knew Wash and immediately they start in on a story about him. I have a lot of cherished memories of Wash but none more vivid than the night 3 couples got together in Mike and Marion's basement in their Elmwood home and Wash introduced us to his half yard of ale glass. Heaven's football team just got a lot better.
