Obituary for William Allan Nash

William Allan Nash
William “Allan” Nash
August 3, 1930 – August 28, 2016

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, Allan on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his residence, Bethania Personal Care Home.
Allan was born on August 3, 1930. The eldest son of John and Laura Nash. He was predeceased by his parents, in- laws, Ethel and Robert Smith and his loving wife, Elaine in February 2015.

Allan will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Brian, Howard (Pam), and Kevin; six grandchildren, Ryan, Rory, Jared, Owen, Evan, and Aurissa; four great - grandchildren, Gavin and Ozzy, Julian and Nathaniel; sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Jim Gilbert; numerous cousins , nieces, nephews and many friends.

Allan and Elaine met in 1951 and were married on August 28, 1954, ironically dad passed on their 62nd
Wedding Anniversary. They lived in Weston for a short period. They moved to Windsor Park in 1959 where they resided for forty-six years, they then spent five years in a suite on Alpine Ave. prior to their final move; dad in Bethania Personal Care and mom to Bethania Haus.
Allan was a printer for his entire working years at National Publishers, Stovels and Eatons. Dad suffered a major stroke in 1982, but with the help of mom recovered to be able to drive and maintain their home and yard for many years. Allan and Elaine were long time members of St. Bartholomew Anglican Church. Dad enjoyed the many family road trips exploring the country and puttering around his yard and gardens. Dad’s ability to communicate clearly faded in the last year, but his eyes would still light up in visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
We would like to extend a warm thank you to all the special caregivers and friends at Bethania Personal Care Home for your kindness and compassionate care. It is appreciated beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mosaic Event Centre, 1006 Nairn Ave. Winnipeg, MB., Fraser and Helen Hunt officiating.
