Obituary for Trenton Wayne Oldfield

Trenton Wayne Oldfield
Trenton Wayne Oldfield
October 27, 1975 – December 10, 2015

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Trenton Wayne Oldfield, beloved son, brother, father, nephew, cousin and friend.

He is survived by his father Wayne, mother Judie, sisters Shanlee (Jeremy), niece Marlowe and Bonnie (Doug), niece Emma, nephew Jack, sons, Traften and Hunter, their mother Bridgette, life friend Sharon Forsberg, many Uncles, Aunts, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his Auntie Wendy.

Trent was a free spirit and a unique individual. People would often come up to us and say how smart, witty, compassionate and full of life he was. He spent his formative years growing up in Waverly Heights, attending Chancellor, AA Leach, and Vincent Massey schools where he made many friends. He also attended both the University of Manitoba and Red River College, where he majored in playing pool 
Growing up Trent spent his summers on Lake of the Woods. This is where he honed his craft of fishing and hunting, and also where he gained the nickname of Gunner, coined from his numerous Kenora buddies.

He went on to work at Home Depot. He loved working there as he could use his skill with autocad and also meet and talk with people. He went on to work in the steel industry with Russel Metals, New Brunswick Steel and finally Cascadia Metals. It was definitely his calling.

Many people assisted Trenton and our family along the way since his diving accident, we would have too many names to mention here and do not want to miss any so a heartfelt thank you to all those who came forward and helped Trenton and our family. However, we do want to give a great big thank you to Jacqueline Armes of the Paraplegic Association for her assistance, compassion and advice to all of us.

His two boys, Traften (8) and Hunter (5) were his pride and joy.

Eighteen months ago, a tragic diving accident rendered Trenton a quadriplegic, which changed his life forever. This was devastating for everyone who knew and loved Trent. The diagnosis was that he would never walk again. Trenton’s strength of character, determination, perserverence, and pure stubbornness proved the doctors wrong. He did walk again. He spent 15 months at Health Sciences Centre – Rehab hospital, where he again met new friends. Trent seemed to have a knack of collecting friends, wherever he went.

After his accident, Trenton had many ups and downs, as one would expect. When he got company that was definitely an “up”. As a family we would like to thank the doctors and staff of RR5 (Health Sciences Centre) for their patience and understanding during Trenton’s time there. We would also like to thank Uncle Gerry, Uncle Dave and Auntie Roxane, Quinn, Rob & the kids, Arjun Marwaha, Nicky Paul, Al-Mir, Kevin Waltham, Sharon Forsberg, Sue Chandler, VJ, Carey, and Shannon Weedmark-Jackson who all had been present, in some capacity, in his last months. If we have forgotten any of you, we are very sorry.
Trenton’s passion was anything with a motor that went fast, REALLY fast. Be it a car, snowmachine, boat, or motorcycle. He loved the rush. He loved going hunting and fishing with his lifelong “brother” Geordie and his numerous “other brothers from other mothers”. He was a HUGE sports fan. He was SOO happy when the Jets returned to Winnipeg. He also loved the BOMBERS, despite their record.

Trenton touched many people. With his beautiful smile, huge laugh, quick wit, and his huge heart…..
He has left a huge hole in many hearts, by his passing…Rest in Peace. May God and his angels take care of your beautiful soul.

So “Alright, Alright, Alright” little bro. Save me a spot on that heavenly fishing boat. I’ll bring my big bug shades. Can’t wait for that snarky witty remark I know you’ll have for me then. But for now, until we meet again. I hope you’re finally “Living the Dream” up there in Heaven. Now go soar with the eagles, I’ll be watching out for you.

A celebration of Trenton’s life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 4:00 P.M at Mosaic Funeral Chapel 1006 Nairn Ave. (corner of Keenleyside and Nairn)

Life will always be a test
We fight to adapt and try our best
We struggle to learn and cipher chaos
In a fraction our path is truly lost...
In a vane attempt to navigate fears
The world keeps track of all our years
The vortex of the years that pass
Push forward to the day that is last
Keep along the most truthful course
Your heart is the one and only source
Wake each day with honour and pride
Truth is all you have for peace inside
