October 9, 1935 - September 2, 2014
Peacefully, with Shell at her side, Lillian Irene Ireland, nee Repski, passed away at her home September 2, 2014.
Lil was the only child of John and Ann Repskiand was born in Esk Saskatchewan.
She was proud to be from Saskatchewan and even prouder to be Ukrainian. Although she was an only child, she was raised with 2 amazing cousins , Al and Johnny Repski, who were her super heroes.
Lil married the love of her life, Gerald Garnet Ireland. The couple lived their happily married life in Dauphin. Prior to Gerry’s passing, Gerry told his doctors that his last remaining wish was to lie in bed holding his beautiful wife and telling her how much he loved her. This speaks to their relationship and Lil never got over the heartbreak of losing him in 1992.
Lil was probably the inspiration for the phrase “party girl “and her exploits in Dauphin were legendary. Those who knew her will smile every time they hear Louis Armstrong singing Hello Dolly. You could tell when Lil was in a room as the room was filled with laughter.
Lil had a variety of jobs, and did all with passion. She was extremely proud of her career as civilian member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Her positive lasting influence in the lives of many members is her legacy.
Many people live their lives without having one true best friend and Lil had too many to count. Three of her dearest friends were Marlene Johnston, Pauline Coutts, and Twyla Widdifield. Each of their passing left a significant whole in her heart.
Lil also had to mourn the loss of two amazing dogs, Louie and Oprah. Lil was extremely kind and loving to everyone she met and her only fault was that she loved Shell too much.
Lil was very proud of the sincere loving relationship that she enjoyed with her step-daughter Gerry-Mae. Lil also mourned the loss of her other step-daughter Millie. Lil was always in awe of both of their genuine beauty.
Left to mourn her loss is Shelley (Andrew) and her children Gerry and Kelsey. She is also survived by Gerry Mae (John), Don, Bill (Maureen) and Mickey. She will also be remembered by 13 exceptional grandchildren, all of whom inherited her zest for life and freedom to share their gifts with the world. She was also a proud great-grandmother of seven.
Special friends that remain are Eileen, Irene and Harry, Judy, Janice, Boots and Carol.
At Lil’s request, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest next to Gerry at a private interment. The family request that those wishing to honour her memory do so by being kind to everyone they meet.
